JKSSB Patwari Exam Pattern 2024
If you want to get a job as a Patwari with the JKSSB, you need to pass two tests. 1: Urdu Written Exam and 2: MCQ Test (100 Marks). You have to score enough points on both tests to move forward in the job process.
PART I – Urdu Written Exam (50 Marks)
Phase 1 of the Patwari selection process starts with a test in Urdu language. This test checks how well candidates know Urdu. Those who pass this test move on to the next round, which is the written exam.
The Urdu language test has two parts:
- Reading and
- Writing
Candidates from the Open Merit category need to score at least 40% overall in this test, with at least 33% marks in both reading and writing sections, to show they have a good understanding of Urdu.

- The written exam is the second phase.
- It’s an offline test with objective questions.
- Subjects include Mental Ability and Reasoning, English Language, Computer Knowledge, Static + Current Affairs, and General Knowledge.

- Each correct answer earns 1 mark.
- Incorrect answers incur a negative marking of 1/4th (0.25) of the total marks.

JKSSB Patwari Exam Eligibility Criteria 2024
Here are the requirements to appear for the JKSSB Patwari Exam:
- Age Limit: General candidates must be between 18 to 40 years old. There are relaxations in age for reserved categories according to government rules¹.
- Education: Candidates need to have a Bachelor’s Degree in Urdu from a recognized university or college.
- Nationality: Only Indian citizens are eligible.
- Domicile: Candidates must be permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir and provide a Domicile Certificate issued by the Competent Authority.
- Attempts: There’s no restriction on the number of attempts as long as candidates meet all the eligibility criteria.
